I have a new park and new trees to sit with.

The Van Vleck House is a short walk from the studio. Its posh stately gardens are home to wonderful specimen trees that create unique nooks and crannies for flowers, larger-than-life patches of green, and a lovely home from history. I enjoy pretending it is mine. Its patio is about to be blasted by the blooming of two giant Wisterias planted in 1938.

It sits on a slightly busy Montclair road; however, the sound of passing cars seems to fade into the background, becoming a subtle reminder of the world outside this magical place. If it were a fairytale garden, I imagine it would be the kind that appears to some and not to others.

Sitting under a 40+ foot pine in a flash, it came to me. The Kundalini Yoga kriya I am to teach and how I am to teach it.

For context and kept brief, a bit about Kundalini Yoga's magic as taught by Yogi Bhajan.

Kundalini Yoga is a RAJ YOGA, aka Royal Yoga, which is the oldest form of Yoga. From its beginning, it was a householder practice; one did not have to move to the mountains, giving up family and life responsibilities, to be twisted into asanas all day contemplating the divine. One could practice Kundalini Yoga daily and reap the benefits of balance (SHUNIA) in their householder's life.

The tradition of sharing/teaching these ancient Kriyas, Kriya defined as

-specific movements linked in a particular order - were only introduced in secrete, passing one to a few, from guru to disciples. Then came Yogi Bhajan, a master of Kundalini Yoga. He breaks this tradition and, in 1968, begins to teach Kundalini Yoga to all in a used furniture store in Los Angeles, California. More on that in time.

As I stated above, Kundalini Yoga does not twist you into poses like many more physical practices so popular today. It works its magic with what I like to call - Rhythmic Patterning - Trade Marked: Me... subtle yet strong sets of movements that get your KUNDALINI ENERGY flowing.

Side note: CRANIOSACRAL Therapy, offered at my wellness studio, is a profound healing modality that beautifully mirrors and works in similar ways. COME TRY. It uses pressure less than the weight of a nickel yet goes deeper than any bodyworker's elbows. CS treatments for spring are 60 min and $100

Now back to the task at hand, the KRIYA I am to teach, not calling it a workout, instead calling it a BLISS OUT. For me, "Workouts" are so 2019. What we need now are balance and bliss.

When you teach Kundalini Yoga, you also practice Kundalini Yoga, linking yourself to the golden chain of teaching. I do not make up these Kriyas! They are set in stone from their ancient beginnings and passed along the links of this chain. What is magic about this Yoga is that by tunning into its energy, the Kriya flows through you, using your unique gifts as a teacher to manifest into the moment. IT'S SUPER COOL. The same set taught by different teachers is a different experience.

The Kriya that came to me in that flash, titled Basic Spinal Energy Series, is one I have practiced for years. The first I ever taught and the one I am now placing into my "BLISS OUT" called 5-5-20-15-5.

If you have your vaccination, are looking for a "BLISS OUT," join me.

" The purpose of life is to watch and experience living. To enjoy living every moment of it. And to live in environments, which are calm, quiet, slow, sophisticated, elegant. Just to be. Whether you are naked or you have a golden robe on you, that doesn’t make any difference. The ideal purpose of your life is that you are grateful - great and full - that you are alive, and you enjoy it." - Yogi Bhajan.
