As I doomscroll through the algorithm, I sometimes feel overwhelmed and confused by everything I see. For a moment, I even wondered: Am I doing what I should be? Am I working hard enough to make a positive impact on the world and the people around me? So, I took some time to reflect.
In that quiet space, I realized the answer is YES. For all of my adult life, I’ve walked a path that’s entirely my own—guided by creativity, a quest for beauty, and a deep desire to understand my internal energy. I’ve always attempted ( not always successfully) to stay true to my creative potential.
One thing that stood out to me on my recent trip to NOLA was how my creative energy has always found a restful place in eroticand sensual art and photography—especially in appreciating the male body. For me, taking a close look at the body offers space and clarity. I truly believe sensuality is one of the most fundamental human experiences we share. Attraction is the most powerful force in the universe.
But unconsciousness in connection to our bodies and our attractions is a real problem. Not fully accepting and investigating our own sensuality can lead to the kind of chaos and confusion we see surfacing today. When we don’t reflect on our desires and simply act on them without clarity and consciousness, all sorts of creepy and non-consensual things can manifest.
Spend a moment today thinking about your connection to your sensual body—yes, you absolutely have one. Embrace the sensations that arise within you, acknowledging the beauty and power of your physical form. Allow yourself to reconnect with your senses and feel the textures, tastes, and rhythms of life around you. As you embark on this journey of exploration, remember that nurturing this connection can lead to greater self-awareness, confidence, and joy.
This painting is one of mine; it is about the organizing of energy, not into something clear for everyone, but for one's own well-being. It is available for purchase.
5 foot by 5 foot, so you have to like the big ones...
